课程介绍

I. Course Description: This course in the curriculum is designed for MTI students. Students meet once a week in the language lab for two class hours without any break. Students will be studying EC and CE interpretation alternately. Most Chinese to English interpretation is based on the textbook where themes should be learned including: Beijing, Sports, education, Economy and Reform. For English to Chinese part we are dealing with most topics concerning daily life or the themes mentioned in the above. Students are the center of the classroom teaching where interpretation, presentation and evaluation consist of the major activities of this class. Students are encouraged to share different experiences and wonderful versions for any piece of interpretation. Since this is an intellectual course, a lot of reading and learning are involved. II. Objectives: All the new words and expressions, language points and the reading materials in each lesson are the required readings for the students. The theory of this course is “practice makes perfect” and the approach “sit next to Nelly”. Previewing and reviewing are the essential part of the study. Some real theories and skills will be introduced and discussed, but we won’t spend a lot time on them. The real skills actually can be acquired in the practice, so is the competence.
